Acting Classes

Each month at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center, Midnight Sun Theatre will host a FREE 90-minute theater class on the first and third Tuesday monthly from Noon to 1:30pm. Come join us and get ready to get on stage!

Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC)

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is the place to start to learn about the variety of available programs to assist you in the community. ADRC serves as a one-stop resource center for help in navigating the various resources available. They will have an information table at Social Hour on the third Wednesday of each month to answer questions. For more information, please call (907) 343-7770.

Alaska Legal Services

Free one-on-one consultations for low-income seniors by Alaska Legal Services staff. Open to the public. Space is limited and appointments are required. Call 907-770-2000 to make an appointment.

Alaska Rainbow Elders (A.R.E.)

Alaska Rainbow Elders (A.R.E.) is committed to helping LGBTQ+ elder Alaskans enjoy life with a sense of community, safety, and dignity. Thursdays from 10am to 11:30am.

Art Groups

Ole Art Class, Watercolor Group, Mixed Media/Open Art, SueDoodles. Accepting art supply donations; please no easels.

Benefits Enrollment Center

Do you need assistance with food, utility, medical or prescription drug costs? You may qualify for assistance. The Benefits Enrollment Center is available to assist you in identifying and applying for relevant benefit programs. Knowledgeable counselors are on hand to address your inquiries and guide you through the application process. This service is open to everyone. ASAC membership is not required. Call (907) 770-2025 to schedule an appointment.

Billiards/Pool, Foosball & Chess

Monday through Friday from 9am to 5am. A foosball table and chess board have been added to this room for members to play.

Board & Card Games

Chess, checkers, backgammon, bridge, canasta, pinochle, Skip-Bo, Mahjong, dominoes, cribbage, and other games are played daily. The “Game of the Day” is decided each day. If there are enough people to play the game, you can play! Monday through Friday, 12pm to 3pm.

Chorus

No experience necessary or auditions needed. Join others with the love of music. They meet Tuesdays, September through May, from 1pm to 3pm in the Ballroom at the Center.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) / Senior Food Boxes

Supplementing senior diets with nutritious food.

Food Box pick up hours are Tuesdays from 10am to noon and Thursdays from 1pm to 3pm. All enrolled clients will receive a call to schedule their pickup day. For more information, call (907) 770-2025.

Crafts & Quilt Room

Craft & Quilt Room volunteers are usually available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:30am to 12:30pm to answer your questions about quilt-piecing, long arm quilting, knitting, and crocheting. We are accepting donations of fabric and yarn.

Starting in November 2024, join Lynne and Jen for the craft and sewing classes Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 1 PM to 3 PM in the Craft Room.

Library

Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm.

The ASAC Library offers a wide variety of books that members can borrow, including many large-print versions. We are not currently accepting donations.

Nail Care by Basia’s

Basia specializes in diabetic nail care and offers nail clippings, pedicures, and manicures. There is a fee for this service, and you do not have to be a member of the Center. Book your appointment by calling (907) 770-2000.

Ping Pong

Come play a round with the “experts”. Thursdays, 9am to 10am.

Senior Streakers Bike Group

A biking club with their clothes on. Meeting at the Senior Center every Wednesday about 11:30am.

Social Hour

Usually held on the first and third Wednesday monthly in the Ballroom with live entertainment, guest speakers, and fun! Donations of $5 per person are gladly accepted.

Socrates Café

People from diverse backgrounds gather to discuss thoughtful ideas and exchange experiences. We embrace the Socratic method and believe that we learn more when we listen and question than when we just talk. Fridays, 10am to Noon in the Gerardy Room.

Writing Groups

Creative Writing Group - Write five-minute essays in class on a particular topic, then share them with the group. Wednesdays from 10am to 11:30am in the Art Room.

Writing Life Stories and Memoirs - This class provides topics, writing tips, and coaching. Tuesdays from 10am to Noon in the Art Room.
