KOLIGANEK RIVER BAND Bio
The KOLIGANEK RIVER BAND originated from their namesake,
the village of Koliganek, located in Southwest Alaska on
the Nushagak River.
The KOLIGANEK RIVER BAND is composed of Ishnook Family
members, to include Blunka Jr, Father of the Band, and his
wife, Diane Ishnook. Blunka has taught his sons Nicholi and
Blunka III to play music instruments, starting when they
were in high school.
The Other members of the Band are Daughters, Kathryn, who
plays drums, and Anastasia, the youngest, who sings.
Although living in Anchorage, This family band plays
throughout the State, in communities as far away and as
varied as Ekwok, New Stuyahok, Iliama, Leve'lock well as
here in Anchorage and vicinity.
The KOLIGANEK RIVER BAND has performed for school
graduations, winter carnivals, weddings and many other
community groups and activities. They also perform at the
Alaska Native Heritage Center and at the Anchorage Senior
Center.
The Band is presently playing at the end of each month
here in Anchorage at the Snow Goose Restaurant. You are
cordially invited to catch them there, at the Senior Center
or one of the other places they might be booked to play.
